How Steep Is Your Learning Curve?

It has been a year now since Zestfor Ltd was founded and what a year it has been. When I reflect on the one thing that I have loved the most about this past year, it has to be the fact that I am learning new things again – every day. Having been within the corporate world for 18 years where of course I was learning and developing, at a steady pace, it was in an environment that was familiar. Being out here, running my own business, has put me back onto a far steeper learning curve and one that has reminded me how good it feels to be there.

So, what I ask you is this……

  • how steep is learning curve in your current role?
  • How much are you learning as each day passes by?
  • Are you developing or are you just treading water and cruising?

It’s a balance isn’t it? If you feel the incline is too steep and you feel out of your depth, it can lead to feeling of stress and is not a pleasant place to be. But if you are not learning and developing you become stale and stagnant and can sometimes even feel yourself slipping backwards within your career.

So – how often do you think about your own development? Do you have a personal development plan of your own? If you manage people, do you discuss their development?

Do let me know your thoughts on this subject as it is one very close to my heart and I hope is one that you believe is or should be close to yours.
